Review: C.M. Hadfields Paddock Boots

C.M. Hadfields Paddock Boots

Earlier this year, a friend introduced me to the C.M. Hadfields Paddock Boots after she decided to retire her 15 year-old previous pair. Paddock boots that last longer than most things in life? I was immediately sold and wanted to try out a pair for myself.

Features

I like that my C.M. Hadfields Paddock Boots are taller in design than most, preventing interference with half chaps. They boast a punched toe cap and punch embellishments around the arch–so chic I want to wear them out with a pair of jeans!

After owning these boots for over a year now and riding at least 4-5 days a week, I can attest to their quality. The zippers are sturdy and work well – no sticking or coming undone. They also clean up well with little effort.

I found the leather on these boots to be supple, yet supportive straight out of the box. It would be great if they were waterproof so I could wear them into the washstall—I’m trying my best to remember to switch to muck boots for that!

Options

These boots come in rich chocolate brown (my pick to match my TredStep half chaps) or deep black leather.

Thumbs Up 👍

As far as comfort, I often forget these boots are on! The break in period for me was only a few days thanks to an impromptu day-trip to Philadelphia.

Thumbs Down 👎

These paddock boots are known to fit slightly larger. For example, I normally wear a women’s size 10 and found the perfect fit in a size 8 after some trial and error ordering online. Just be sure you know your measurements before or check with customer service.

Price

The total price came out to $274.35 with shipping. While I’m used to paying under $200 for paddock boots, the C.M. Hadfields’ are much better quality than cheaper boots on the market. They are worth the money because of the durability.

Bottom Line

I’ve tried several brands and styles of paddock boots over the years. The C.M. Hadfields Paddock Boots are the best for me. I would definitely recommend them as a well-made, comfortable and fit for function pair of paddock boots, good both in the saddle and on the ground.

Update from October 2017

My paddock boots have only gotten better with time! They have completely molded to my feet and the zipper is just as sturdy as day one.
